get values from .bat file and create a .dat file

i am working on a project where i have to open a .bat file and get its values and convert it then create a .dat file. i would like to know if this can be done using vb.net. i am using vs2008 for this project.

my .bat file is created by my system and placed in a directory so i have to create a exe that will look for any .bat files in that dir and then open it, get its values, put it in .dat file.
